Alpenfohn Black Ridge (revb) CPU cooler is 47mm in height and features 6 copper heat pipes for cooling. The Black Ridge only supports Low Profile RAM with max height of 35mm. An additional 120mm fan can be mounted on top of the Black Ridge cooler, giving a max height of 62 / 72mm dependant upon the top fan thickness.
TEST SYSTEM
Testing was completed on BC1T Open Testbench using the following hardware in 20°C room ambient temperature. CPU cooler fans were set to fixed 35dB(a) noise level at distance of 50cm.

THERMAL BENCHMARKS

CONCLUSION
The main issues we found with the Black Ridge is motherboard compatibility and that it doesn’t include a motherboard backplate for the mounting. This means the screws make direct contact with the motherboard PCB, so we used the the backplate included with the Thermalright AXP90 mounting kit to avoid potential damage to motherboard PCB. This also provides consistent mounting pressure for the cooler.
